Pre-Insulated Hdpe Pipe
Pre-insulated hdpe pipe has many outstanding physical properties
which set it apart from most other piping materials. In many cases, pre-insulated
polyethylene pipe can be the solution to unique design problems, resulting
in substantial cost savings on the project. For the past decade, our pre-insulated
hdpe pipe has established an enviable record of cost effective performance
in a wide range of municipal and industrial applications.

Why use Pre-Insulated HDPE Pipe?
There are several advantages in using high density polyethylene over other
pipe materials, including:
- Economical installed cost.
- Light weight.
- Flexible, HDPE pipe follows the contours of most terrain and often
the bending properties of the pipe can eliminate the need for elbows.
- Less susceptible to shear fracture.
- Less susceptible to water hammer.
- Superior flow characteristics.
- Unaffected by corrosive soils.
- Inert to most chemicals.
- Greater resistance to earth loadings.
- Superior abrasion resistance.
- Outstanding resistance to very low temperature.
- THERMOCABLE. electric tracing system available, if required.
- Factory applied rigid polyurethane insulation, the lowest K factor
of all commercially available insulations.
- High density adhesive backed polyethylene outer protective jacket.
Jacket is water tight, impact resistant and UV inhibited. A selection
of alternate metal jackets are also available.
- A complete range of compatible fittings and polymer coated insulation
kits are available.
Pipes are available in copper tube size (CTS), iron pipe size (IPS) and
metric dimensions.

Pre-insulated Pipe Applications
In northern climates, substantial savings can be realized with the shallow
burial of pre-insulated pipe in the active frost zone. Savings result
from reduced excavation costs, especially in rocky or permafrost terrain.
Pre-insulated pipe increases the time to freeze. A heat tracing system
is available to compensate for heat losses through the insulation and
prevent freezing. Pre-insulated hdpe pipe has been in service in North
America since 1979. Some typical applications include:
- Shallow buried municipal water and sewer mains.
- Shallow buried municipal water and sewer services.
- Shallow buried water and sewer servicing of temporary construction
campsites.
- Mine water, reclaim water and tailings lines.
- Bridge crossings.
