Why use Pre-Insulated HDPE Pipe?

Pipes are available in copper tube size (CTS), iron pipe size (IPS) and metric dimensions.

Butt Fused Joint Insulation Detail

Trim halfshells to fit the cutback area, install and hold temporarily in place with masking tape.

Apply wrap around heat shrink sleeve, being sure to overlap the factory insulation by at least 75 mm (3 inches)on either side of the joint.

Pre-insulated Pipe Applications
In northern climates, substantial savings can be realized with the shallow burial of pre-insulated pipe in the active frost zone. Savings result from reduced excavation costs, especially in rocky or permafrost terrain. Pre-insulated pipe increases the time to freeze. A heat tracing system is available to compensate for heat losses through the insulation and prevent freezing. Pre-insulated hdpe pipe has been in service in North America since 1979.
